Regulation of donations
The legislator allows the deduction of donations for religious purposes in the PIT declaration, which results from the provisions of Article 26 (1) point (9)(b) of the Income Tax Act (hereinafter the “PIT Act”).

Donations for the purposes of religious worship (together with other donations, e.g. to charitable organizations, for blood donation purposes) are deductible in the amount of the donation made, but not more than 6% of the income earned in a given tax year. In order to be entitled to such a deduction, the donation must be made for religious purposes and the amount of the expenditure made for these purposes must be adequately documented.

Another type of donation to the church is donations for the church’s charitable and social purposes. These donations are fully deductible. The basis for the unlimited deduction of donations to church legal entities for charitable and social purposes are laws that regulate the relationship between the state and individual taxpayers.
